CHAPTER 8 SALT

In this post, I am going to share some method to remember some of the things in this chapter. I know this chapter is quite hard as it has a lot of things to remember. So, I hope this post would help you all.!!!!

Solubility of salt

1.Sulphate salt  = Pb, Ba, Ca sulphate salts are insoluble salt
Method to remember Persatuan Bahasa Cina

2.Chloride salt = Pb, Ag, Hg salts are insoluble salt
Method to remember Persatuan Agama Hindu

3. Sodium, Ammonia and Potassium salts all are soluble
Method to remember : SAP  Salt

4. Carbonate salt
All are insoluble except SAP(Sodium, Ammonia and Potassium) salt

Colour of Salt

Special salt’s colour that you must know
1. Copper salt basically all blue colour in aqueous solution except copper(II) carbonate(Green) and Copper (II) oxide (Black) in solid state
**Note :
Copper(II) carbonate and copper(II) oxide are insoluble in
in water, so they will not form blue colour aqueous solution

2. Zinc Oxide
Yellow when HOT
White when COLD

3. Lead(II) Oxide
Brown when HOT
Yellow when COLD

Test For Cations
1. Using NaOH
Pb, Zn, Al = Form white precipitate and dissolve inexcess NaOH
Method to remember : Persatuan Zinc Aluminium
Ca, Mg = Form white precipitate but cant dissolve in excess NaOH
Method to remember : Cari Makan

Stayed tune ......will upload more on test for cations !!!
